When describing the program or curriculum you are developing, be sure to include a brief description of the program content and organization, the delivery method, the number of sessions, and the program tasks for participants.
Think about these questions in relation to your program:
- What is the content of this program?
- How will the program be delivered to the participants?
- What are the number and duration of program sessions?
- What are the program tasks for participants?
You might answer these questions like this:
- The content of the program will be how to mentor undergraduates. We will present the program in a seminar series that has eight sessions. During those sessions we will have the graduate students and post-doc researchers participate in discussion groups and interviewing exercises, have them do a reflective writing assignment about their mentoring philosophy, and have them analyze case studies.
You can then summarize the answer into a program description.
EXAMPLE
Below is an example of a program description. It states the number and type of sessions (eight-session seminar series), the content (how to mentor...), and program tasks (discussion groups... analyzing case studies).
- Faculty will lead eight one-hour seminars for graduate students on how to mentor undergraduates interested in research. Activities include discussion groups, interviewing exercises, a reflective writing assignment and analyzing case studies.
